- A meeting of the VASASG (VHDL Analog SubPAR Analysis and Standardization
- Group) met during the EuroDAC/EuroVHDL conference in Hamburg on Tuesday,
- 8th. September 1992.
-
- 1. Attendees:
- =============
-
- Jean-Michel BERGE (CNET, France)
- Helene DURANTIS (Thomson CSF/SCTF, France)
- Alain VACHOUX (EPFL, Switzerland)
- Denis ROUQIER (CNET, France)
- Mark BASTEN (Lucas, UK)
- Peter OSTROP (MAZ, Germany)
- Jacques BENKOSKI (SGS_Thomson, Italy)
- Jutta IPSEN (ANACAD, Germany)
- Hazem EL TAHAWI (ANACAD, France)
- Jorg-Oliver FISCHER-BINDER (Bosch, Germany)
- Bernt ARGEGARD (Radio System, Sweden)
- Mart ALTMAE (IM, Sweden)
- Theodor MAIER (Siemens AG, Germany)
- John BAILEY (INMOS, UK)
- Peter SCHWARZ (FhG-EAS, Germany)
- Mark BROWN (CLSI, USA)
- Eric FILSETH (Cadence, USA)
- Robert COTTRELL (LSI Logic Europe, UK)
-
- 2. Minutes of last meeting
- ==========================
-
- The minutes of the previous meeting, held in conjunction with the DAC in June,
- were presented.
-
- 3. Schedules and Progress
- =========================
-
- At the last meeting, Mark Brown had stated that the Requirements Analysis
- would be complete by the October DASS meetings in Washington DC. We were
- not convinced that they could be completely finished, but that Language
- Design should begin then, concurrently with further Requirements
- Analysis.
-
- Jorg-Oliver Fischer-Binder agreed to chair the Validation phase.
-
- 4. Actions from last meeting
- ============================
-
- Kevin Nolan distributed a document addressing the issues he had agreed to
- consider. This was not discussed at the meeting.
-
- The glossary of terms from Dave Barton is not yet available; Mark Brown
- agreed to chase this up.
-
- 5. Presentation on Portability
- ==============================
-
- Jean-Michel Berge and Denis Rouqier presented some ideas om portability,
- related to simulation cycle and analogue-to-digital interactions. They
- agreed to distribute a portability proposal based on this presentation.
-
- A copy of their presentation will be circulated by Hazem El Tahawy.
-
- 6. Presentation on Requirements for System Design
- =================================================
-
- Helene Durantis gave a presentation on requirements for mixed-signal system
- design. This was based on two examples: a radar intermediate frequency
- receiver, and a power supply. The radar example required frequency domain
- description and analysis; the power supply mainly transient analysis.
- The presentation served to emphasize the importance of frequency
- domain capabilities, currently given a lower priority than time
- domain in Requirements Analysis.
-
- A copy of her presentation will be circulated by hazem El Tahawy.
-
- 7. Straw Man Simulation Cycle
- =============================
-
- Kevin Nolan agreed to prepare and distribute a Straw Man proposal for
- a simulation cycle for VHDL-A.
-
- 8. Review of Design Objectives Document
- =======================================
-
- Kevin Nolan agreed to prepare and distribute a revised Design Objectives
- Document. This will include numbering of individual paragraphs to
- aid referencing.
-
- There was no time in the meeting to do further review of the document.
- A sub-group continued with this task at other times during the conference.
-
- 9. Next Meeting
- ===============
-
- The next meeting will be as part of the DASS meetings in October in
- Washington, DC. Mark Brown will inform everyone of the time and date.
-
- It is important that further debate takes place over email in the
- intervening period; particularly the distribution of the documents
- people have agreed to prepare.
