  3. Group) met during the EuroDAC/EuroVHDL conference in Hamburg on Tuesday,
  4. 8th. September 1992.

  28. 2. Minutes of last meeting

  31. The minutes of the previous meeting, held in conjunction with the DAC in June,
  32. were presented.

  34. 3. Schedules and Progress

  37. At the last meeting, Mark Brown had stated that the Requirements Analysis
  38. would be complete by the October DASS meetings in Washington DC. We were
  39. not convinced that they could be completely finished, but that Language
  40. Design should begin then, concurrently with further Requirements
  41. Analysis.

  43. Jorg-Oliver Fischer-Binder agreed to chair the Validation phase.

  45. 4. Actions from last meeting
  46. ============================

  48. Kevin Nolan distributed a document addressing the issues he had agreed to
  49. consider. This was not discussed at the meeting.

  51. The glossary of terms from Dave Barton is not yet available; Mark Brown
  52. agreed to chase this up.

  54. 5. Presentation on Portability
  55. ==============================
  56.  
  57. Jean-Michel Berge and Denis Rouqier presented some ideas om portability,
  58. related to simulation cycle and analogue-to-digital interactions. They
  59. agreed to distribute a portability proposal based on this presentation.

  61. A copy of their presentation will be circulated by Hazem El Tahawy.

  63. 6. Presentation on Requirements for System Design

  66. Helene Durantis gave a presentation on requirements for mixed-signal system
  67. design. This was based on two examples: a radar intermediate frequency
  68. receiver, and a power supply. The radar example required frequency domain
  69. description and analysis; the power supply mainly transient analysis.
  70. The presentation served to emphasize the importance of frequency
  71. domain capabilities, currently given a lower priority than time
  72. domain in Requirements Analysis.

  76. 7. Straw Man Simulation Cycle

  79. Kevin Nolan agreed to prepare and distribute a Straw Man proposal for
  80. a simulation cycle for VHDL-A.

  82. 8. Review of Design Objectives Document
  83. =======================================

  85. Kevin Nolan agreed to prepare and distribute a revised Design Objectives
  86. Document. This will include numbering of individual paragraphs to
  87. aid referencing.

  89. There was no time in the meeting to do further review of the document.
  90. A sub-group continued with this task at other times during the conference.

  92. 9. Next Meeting
  93. ===============

  95. The next meeting will be as part of the DASS meetings in October in
  96. Washington, DC. Mark Brown will inform everyone of the time and date.

  98. It is important that further debate takes place over email in the
  99. intervening period; particularly the distribution of the documents
  100. people have agreed to prepare.
